the goals of the project were to create seating that is equal to or smaller than the volume of a 12x12x12 inch space. it required an intended setting as well as needed to include sustainable practices. planned to be used in a cat cafe, the cats cradle allows the user to sit on top of the stool while a cat can interact in varying ways.

research

by visiting cat cafes in person, it was possible to observe how cats and people interacted with the furniture around them. most cats had choose to sit in more enclosed areas (many under the chairs themselves). no customers were sitting in the larger lounge chairs and were instead sitting on the ground in order to play with the cats. everyone is moving around a lot as they don’t have much time inside.
